Just me then

This week’s been hectic, totally. I finished working at the bistro just a bit ago and now i’m just kinda relaxing and writing stuff. I’ve enjoyed my week tho, it’s been lot busier than the last one when i hardly got any hours. This week i’m getting 46,5 hrs, which is quite nice, considering my wage is 3.89£/h, it has accomodation taken off already.

I started on Monday with housekeeping, didn’t have too much to do, couple of lodges and they were quite ok. Then reception right after that and done by 7pm, so i had a relaxing evening. Tuesday I had whole day off, just went to New Milton, got to spend some time on the internet, just doing stuff, sent couple of e-mails and so on. Didn’t get the pics online tho, which was a shame, cause i have loads of them. We missed our bus and had to wait for another one for about an hour, boy was that boring or what. Then had some quiet time at home, just hanging out and doing nothing, really.

Wednesday, I spent whole day at the reception, learning all that new stuff, what i’m supposed to be doing there, huh, hectic. The phone rang all day long, and one of the senior receptionists had to solve problems in every 2 mins, i can’t even imagine they’re gonna have me just by myself over there, cause solving problems’ gonna be the biggest problem for me. Also what we’re going to do on wednesdays usually are arrival packs, which is kinda stupid, but also ok, cause i just have to put some stickers on some leaflets and temporary membership cards, not hard at all. Anyway, that’s usually half day on wednesdays and another half a day on thursdays.

The welcoming packs were pretty much everything i was doing on Thursday as well, till lunchtime anyways. After lunch did some more general stuff and kinda got to know what needs to be done when and in what order.

Friday was housekeeping again, as usual. Did 5 shalets, they are easy to do, because i don’t have to make beds in them cause they all are economy class now. Did some vacuuming, found some food and toilet paper and some lemonade. It was quite nice. Shalets don’t get too hot either, cause most of them are under the trees that offer a good shade over them. Nothing exciting afterwards except for getting paid, shopping for some food and being asked kindly join the guys next door to smoke some marijuana. I kindly accepted the invitation, but never went, cause firstly i didn’t want to and secondly, Filip came by with a bottle of whiskey and offered me and Monika a drink :D we didn’t want to let him down so a bit later we found ourselves being a bit tipsy and laughing so much, our stomacks hurt in the morning.

Had a nasty migraine on Saturday’s morning, but didn’t bother to worry about it much. Did some caravans, couple of them were actually really nice, because these were not owned by the park, the owners had made them look nicer. But in the summer they make some money just renting them out to other people. Done with housekeeping after 2pm i just waited for a bit up at the housekeeping place and then went home, cause i was s’posed to work at the reception later on.

Everybody was busy-busy-busy at the reception cause they were a bit shorthanded at that moment, because i hadn’t had a training on checking guests in yet. I waited for things cool down a bit and tried checking some people in later on. It wasn’t too bad, i liked it actually very much, even tho we have to say same things all over again to people, it get’s kind of irritating at times, but heey, that’s just how these things work.

At one point Adrian walked in and started saying all these nice things about me and eventually he got to the point. He wanted me to work at the bistro later in the evening, because somebody had gotten sick and they really needed someone there. So i was like, what the heck, and said yes, sure, why not :D It was a great experience, cause at first i didn’t know what to do at all, i was just standing there and couldn’t understand a thing. And then at one point i kinda got things going on, and before i knew it, time had gone by so fast that it was already 9pm. The chefs were nice, didn’t shout at me very much, just told me to stay and wait in the kitchen until the food was ready, and if i had trouble with the table numbers at first, later on, i didn’t have any trouble at all. Everything went quite smootly and I got to have a chocolate fudge cake and also some tip, 5.5£ each one of us. There was three of us.

Anyway, the experience was worth while and i’m really waiting to do that again, although it’s hard work, but still nice. Next week i’m going to have to wait tables at a function, it’s someone’s birthday and it’s going to be hard because there’s going to be lots and lots of people. Fortunately it’s not going to be silver service, we just have to take the plates with food already on, to the tables and that’s it. But i’ll see next Saturday then how it’s gonna be.

Tomorrow i’m working at the reception all day long and i do hope, i’ll survive. There’ll be definately tons of problems again and us, receptionist trying to do our best to figure out how to solve them. And then on Monday i start with housekeeping again and do all that other stuff i’m s’posed to do.

But now i’m way too tired to do anything, so i’ll just wash my face and teeth and get a good night’s sleep.

Take care y’all and remember i’ll always love you very much…

:*
